Launch of Real-Time FAFSA Results

On May 31, 2026, we launched real-time results for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA^®) form. Now, students will be able to access estimates of their eligibility for federal aid right after they submit their form.

What's changing?

Thanks to real-time results, FAFSA forms will be processed immediately after a student submits their form. This means that students will be able to access their FAFSA Submission Summary, including their Student Aid Index (SAI) and estimated eligibility for federal student aid, right away. (Note: Some students' forms might still take one to three days to be processed.)

If a student's FAFSA form requires a correction, they'll also now be able to submit up to four FAFSA corrections for immediate processing. After submitting four, any additional corrections will take about 24 hours to process.

If you're a counselor or mentor who works one-on-one with students and parents to complete the FAFSA form, real-time results will let you help them understand federal student aid eligibility more quickly.

If a student's FAFSA form is processed immediately, they'll see a confirmation page that says their results are ready and that prompts them to visit their FAFSA Submission Summary.

If a student's FAFSA form is not processed immediately, they'll see a confirmation page that says processing will take one to three days. They'll receive an email when their form has been processed.
